Through a joint effort between Clinton’s Global Initiative, Habitat for Humanity, Architecture for Humanity, and the Haitian Government there will be a massive industrial development North of Port-Au-Prince involving billions of dollars and a campaign to lure in big manufacturing companies. Looks like the strategy is to define Haiti the new China of the west….Positive for the creation of infrastructure, yes but will it have the negative effects when it actually comes down to policy? Such that has been seen in countries that have attracted businesses through free trade zones; maximize the countries allure for industry and minimize the actual economic benefit to the country by giving corporation free reign? No question about the fact it’ll definitely encourage big business/industry influence on government of Haiti. How do control who will be in charge?

I can’t help to think that it is however the best solution to jump start the development of infrastructure within what has historically been a country plagued by a corrupt government.
